About Wholistic Momma
Mission of Wholistic Momma
My name is Christina and I am a holistic health consultant yoga instructor, avid foodie, wife, and mother of two young children. The idea for The Wholistic Momma came from wanting to create a space for discussion around what a healthy lifestyle really looks like, beyond all the fads and trends. One that feels whole, accessible, vibrant, and balanced to the individual, as opposed to unsustainable. A place to help demystify things like meditation, healthy eating and ghee and bring it to a place that feels approachable and attainable. A place to share tips and tricks that inspire and empowers us in our day to day lives.
There are a lot of amazing ways to create positive change in our life and it can all start with just incorporating a few simple new habits. This is where we will start to cultivate a deeper understanding into what really feeds us (beyond just food), and what depletes us. Everything we take in, from food, to exercises, habits & lifestyle, will either nourish us or deplete us. At Wholistic Momma we will discover what feeds not only your body, but also mind and soul to bring us to a state of balance.
Journey to Wholistic Momma
I became involved with yoga back in 2000. I had been involved in sports and exercise my whole life and was always inspired by health and wellness. Looking to bring more health and stamina to my daily routine, I discovered yoga and how it helped balance the effects of daily stresses on the body & mind. This discovery left me wanting more, eventually earning my 200 hours in Yoga Teacher Training in 2010. Since then, my desire to learn even more, inspired me to study various techniques of alignment through Krama Vinyasa, Anusara and Iyengar.
In 2012, I was pregnant with my first child. My yoga journey led me to explore and eventually teach prenatal yoga. This added a whole other layer of depth and understanding to my practice. Naturally I took on a slower pace with my practice at this time, which was an eye opening and incredible learning experience. The complexities of motherhood forced me to slow down in ways that I was not at all used to or comfortable with at first. Being a “recovering wannabe perfectionist”, my mentality was “go, go, go, and then go faster”. It takes some time and practice to adjust to life with kids and yet continues to be an incredible growing experience. I have had to face some of my biggest challenges straight on and find a way to gracefully dance with the ebb and flows of life.
Watching my children, (my second child was born in 2015), grow and develop, I saw what amazing natural yogis and teachers children can be. This led me to bring yoga into my daughter’s Montessori school. I developed a program which introduced yoga to 3-5 year olds in a fun and engaging way. This was an invaluable learning experience and deepened my understanding of this ancient practice and how it can be introduced and incorporated into anyone’s life, no matter the age or circumstances.
It was also at this time that I received a rude awakening to the harsh realities of our countries food systems and how you can be easily tricked into thinking you’re eating healthy. As a new mom wanting to give my children the best, I became an obsessive detective reading labels, researching ingredients & companies. I learned about the importance of good digestion and really discovered what real food was all about.
Mission of Wholistic Momma
In 2017, I became a certified holistic health consultant through Inner Harmony. I work one on one with clients as well as families, to help implement a healthy and balanced lifestyle for all different walks of life. A Holistic Health Consultant is someone who looks at the whole picture, not just your pant size, and develops a plan on how to bring health and wellness into a person’s life, based on that individuals needs and lifestyle. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach but rather taking the time to understand a person as an individual and using that information to help my clients customize a strategy and routine that will work for them and that will stand the test of time. This work has led to further studies into the human body and human experience through Ayurveda and I am currently working towards becoming a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner.
I am passionate about this work and look forward to sharing what I have learned, and continue to learn, in these different areas of study through my own trial and error. I am excited to discuss these incredible wisdom traditions with you and explore how you can incorporate them into your everyday life, empowering you and assisting you in creating impactful change in your health & wellness.
